Pietro Foresta and Filomena Guaglianone
circa 1910

These are Mike's great-grandparents, the parents of his maternal grandmother. They were living in the southern Italian region of Calabria, in a small town named MaierÓ, when they were married. Rosa was their only child.

Pietro emigrated to America and lived there seven years before he could send for his family. Rosa, Filomena, and Filomena's mother Caterina slept in the same bed in MaierÓ. Pietro worked as a gardener and producer of wine and liquor during Prohibition for residents of Tuxedo Park, New York.
